A Life Well-Lived

This past weekend, my husband and I traveled to Kentucky from our home in North Carolina for the memorial service for a beloved friend in the writing community. It was a lovely service and tribute to a life well-lived.

I had many thoughts during and after the service.

When I leave this earth, what will people say about me? What will they say about any one of us? Will they be kind words? Uplifting words? Most importantly, will they point people to Jesus?

Karen Lynn Nolan Bell can rest in peace with her Savior.

HIGHLIGHTS

Highlights included the following:

Through all the trials and events of her life, and some were horrific, her faith never failed.

Through her battles with her illness, her faith never failed.

Even when she knew she was about to leave this earth, maybe especially since she knew she was going home, her faith never failed.

At all the Christian writing conferences she attended, every person there loved Karen.

Her smile filled any room she entered.

People were drawn to her and her magnetic personality.

She spread joy everywhere she went.

God blessed her with the gifts of music, art, and writing.  Here is a link to her book, Above the Fog : https://amzn.to/49asMVd

Her relationship with Jesus was the most important thing.

She loved with all her heart, especially her Awesome Son and his beautiful wife Sweetie.

Awesome Son and Sweetie were the loves of her life.

The words said, Every. Single. One. told a story of faith, grace, mercy, and pointed to eternal life.

Without a doubt, this sweet friend who is also a distant cousin, is in the Presence of God.

There is not a doubt in the mind of anyone who knew her, Karen was greeted with well done, good and faithful servant.

THANKFUL

I thank God for having had you in my life. You were more than a friend to me. You stood by my side during some of the darkest days of my life, including the death of my dear sister. Your loving and joy-filled words comforted me and pointed me to the cross of Christ.

You are missed, but oh, what joy fills my heart just picturing you dancing with Jesus. May you eternally sing Sparrow’s Song.

A different arrangement of this was played at Karen’s memorial. Think about Karen as you listen. God bless you and may you be filled with His JOY!
