Can You Guess Who?

Last week, I posed the question–Is Shakespeare, Shakespeare? This week, I have another question for you. It still relates to the second book in my Charlotte Graves Mystery Series, Grave Decisions. I’m trying to give you things to ponder as you prepare to read book two. One of the characters in book two was an actual person and is related to me. Can you guess who?

CHART THE COURSE AND SPOIL THE PLOT

If you read book one, Grave Consequences, you know that my books are filled with many characters. One reviewer told me she was lost in the sea of folks. I get it. I could have given you a genealogy chart that tells you how all the people are related, but there would be no need to read the book. That rather defeats the purpose of all that work.

The conclusion would have been right there in that chart. And what is the fun in getting to the end before becoming invested in the story and forming either a love or hate relationship with the characters? You would have missed out on the charming little town of Loblolly, Alabama.

Do you ever read the end first?

Horrors!

I will admit, I’ve done this before, but I certainly don’t advise doing so. It spoils all the fun, the twists and turns, the guessing, and getting to know the characters along the way. And it’s always fun to try to outsmart the sleuth. Do you do that? I love mysteries! Any kind.

This time around, there will be a cast of characters for you. Well, most of them. The ones that need to remain hidden until the end will not be in the list of characters.

PATRICIA SPRINKLE AND DEBORAH SPRINKLE

Have you ever read books penned by Patricia Sprinkle? She writes genealogy mysteries, but her most famous series must be her Thoroughly Southern Mysteries, featuring a magistrate in Georgia and her husband. She has a lot of characters in her books and puts a cast in the front. I must say, I often found myself looking to the front and making sure I had the relationships correct. Great books. Do check her out. She has the MacLaren Yarbrough, Thoroughly Southern Series, and Family Tree Mysteries Series.   https://bit.ly/3JlQVha

I read Mrs. Sprinkle’s books long before I began to write. I loved her books so much that I sent her an email. She answered me! We exchanged a few emails and found we had much in common. Both of us are Southern, both boy moms. But the biggest and most God-incidence is that her grandmother was once in the Andalusia, Alabama, nursing home. Y’all! Andalusia is my hometown!  I left when I went away to college and didn’t return until I got married in my hometown church, so I never got to know her grandmother. I wish I had. What an amazing connection.

By the way, author Deborah Sprinkle, another favorite of mine, says she isn’t related to Patricia Sprinkle. Debbie has two excellent mystery series, Trouble in Pleasant Valley Series, and Mac and Sam Series.   https://amzn.to/3QrTMcv

SO . . . CAN YOU GUESS WHO?

Okay, so back to the question at hand. I mentioned Shakespeare. Do you think I could be related to him? Maybe, but probably not. My former neighbors could be, at least by marriage, as they were the Hathaways. Go figure. Another God-incidence?

At this point, I haven’t a clue where this book will end up. If you got my newsletter this week, you know there are possibilities out there. I’m confident that God knows exactly where it will go. He even knows who will read it and who will be kind enough to post a review, but that day is a while away.

In the meantime . . .

Can you guess who?

Blessings, y’all!

It’s been a while since I’ve sung this one, but it was one of my Mama’s favorites. This one has traveled with me to churches in Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. It’s a good one.
