Plans and Goals for 2025
Happy New Year! Hard to believe that number when I look at it—2025. Seems a long, long time since the year of my birth. And it is. I celebrated three quarters of a century in October, and I’m thankful for every moment of those years.
True, I miss my Mama, my Daddy, and my Sissy, but the good news is—I’ll see them again. God knows the time appointed to me for that day when I’ll join them, so I don’t worry about it. I simply try to live each day to the fullest, and pray I’ve honored Him daily.
I’m only human, so I know I’ve fallen short many days. Here’s the thing, we get to try again the next day, God willing.
FRIENDS WITH PLANS
Many of my friends, especially my writing friends, have posted about spending time writing down their goals for this year. Have you done that?
Plans and Goals for 2025 @DDuPreeWilliams #writing #plans #goals Share on XThat’s a no for me. They’re in my mind, but I haven’t put them to paper. Perhaps I should. My friends say this helps them to know where they are headed and to set goals within a time frame.
My husband is very much that way. He’s a list maker. Keeps an amazing calendar. We’re supposed to have a shared one, but of course, being the techie that I am (HA!) I know exactly how to add my things to his calendar, if I even put them in my own. See the problem?
Well, this is a new year and old dogs can learn new tricks. I’ve learned a few on my journey to self-publishing. It’s a big hurdle. You need a team of people to help you. But once you learn it, it isn’t as hard as you thought it was going to be.
Now, I’m not at that point yet, but I’m assured by my many self-published friends that it really is a lot easier once you’ve done it a time or two. Since this is my first rodeo, I needed lots of help. I’m so thankful to those people who’ve come alongside me every step of the way.
MY WRITING GOALS FOR 2025
Thus far, these are my plans for my writing this year.
- Get book one, Grave Consequences, A Charlotte Graves Mystery, re-released. I was aiming for January 14, but it will have to wait until the 21st. Things I need to learn between now and that date.
- Get book two, Grave Decisions released by the middle of March if not sooner.
- Finish writing book three, Grave Legacy and release it in the Fall. Date not set in stone.
- Finish edits on a Christmas novella that accompanies this series, release in July. No title.
- Continue this weekly blog.
- Continue my monthly newsletters.
- Think about the plot for book four in the Charlotte Graves Series and begin basic writing.
That is my writing life. My personal life includes downsizing a ton of stuff collected over an almost 52-year marriage. With four sons and two grands, you can imagine just how many photographs alone that is. Then, as a genealogist for our family, I have boxes and boxes of files, and even some of my sister’s. A lot of papers. Add to these things, our fifth chronological reading of our Bible.
LET’S PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER
2025 will be a busy year. I pray I get all this done in a timely manner. I covet your prayers.
How about you? Do you set goals or make plans at the beginning of the year? Share some of yours with us, if you will.
I pray each of you will have a year overflowing with blessings. May you be healthy, may you succeed in all your endeavors, mostly, may you grow in your relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who knows the plans He has for each of us (read Jeremiah 29:11).
Blessings, y’all!
Debbie

The Conversation
So happy for you and your great plans! Thanks for sharing. 🙂
Praying all your plans succeed and you have a great year! I love the names of all the books in your series. A good Bible verse to help you desire to write down your goals is Habakkuk 2:2. I have heard more than one person recently share that you shouldn’t tell others your goals, but keep them to yourself. The most recent person I heard say that explained the reason — because you get satisfaction just from stating the goals and you lose momentum on actually accomplishing them. I’m thinking that through. It’s a new thought process for me.☺️
You’ve inspired me to get my writing goals set!
You have a lot going on, Debbie. Prayers you meet all of those exciting goals in 2025. You are a blessing.
