A Trip Back Home
I’m inching closer to being able to re-release book one in my Charlotte Graves Mystery series. I’ve learned many lessons during this process and I’m thankful for each of those. Be on the lookout for announcements.
But, right in the middle of seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, I received an invitation to return to my hometown and the church in which I grew up and later got married. It has been many years since I set foot in that church. I’m looking forward to being there and seeing all the changes.
During my childhood and youth, the church had a carillon which played daily. I remember hearing those bells. At some point, they broke or just stopped working. Some kind soul donated a new carillon to the church and the dedication ceremony is this Sunday.

HEADING OUT – SOUTH BOUND
Today, Hubby and I are heading out for a quick trip from our western North Carolina mountain home all the way to Andalusia, Alabama, and places beyond. Homeward bound! We will stop in Birmingham to see Hubby’s sister and her husband. If we are lucky, we may get to see a great niece or nephew while there. They’ve all grown up so much. If it weren’t for shared photographs, we wouldn’t recognize any of them.
From there we will drive to Andalusia, then on to DeFuniak Springs, Florida, to see my beloved high school choral director and his lovely wife. As Marie said to me this week, we’re family. I’ve certainly always thought of them that way. We formed a Gospel trio when I was in high school, and we’ve sung together every chance we’ve had since then. We spent many evenings gathering around the piano in my parents’ home when I was in high school. Those were the days.
We will attend the church service and the dedication on Sunday, then drive to Dothan, Alabama to visit the burial site of my sweet parents and visit with cousins. We will get about halfway home and drive the rest of the way on Monday.
LONG TRIPS BUT . . . HUGS
Are you worn out yet? We don’t make too many trips these days. The last long trip was a year and a half ago to see our youngest son out in Austin. That is two days driving out, five days there, and then another two days driving home. We are just a wee bit old for such long trips these days.
All of this amid trying to launch two books. But seeing family and friends is so worth the time it takes away from all things publishing. Oh, and warmer weather pulls at this girl’s heart strings. I’m really looking forward to that. I hate cold weather.
How about y’all? Do you have any trips planned? Do you drive or do you fly? Frankly, I don’t like either of those these days. But I’ll be so glad to get in a bunch of hugs.
Keeping it short this week. We appreciate any prayers you lift for our safe travels.
Blessings, y’all!
Charles, Marie, and I sang a much livelier version of this, and I will say, it was even better than these guys. Hey, I speak truth, y’all! We had so much fun praising God together. I miss those days more than I can say.
