Word of the Year

My friend, Jane Green, has a fabulous blog, Set Apart Storytelling. She always gives me thoughts to ponder, great information, and words that make me dig deeper into God’s Word, or just into my own thoughts and emotions.

This week Jane talked about her word for the year. Hers is a great one, but I’m not going to tell. Go sign up for her blog to find out. She also gave us two great books to check out. Find her blog post here: https://janehgreen.com/making-2025-a-transformational-year/

I confess, I’d planned to bypass the word of the year idea for 2025. I can’t ever remember what it was past the first month or so anyway, so why go to the trouble of thinking about it?

But . . .

Every time I’ve turned around in recent days and weeks, I’ve seen Scriptures or simply the word rest, somewhere.

WHAT? ME? REST?

But I have so much to do. I have two books coming out soon. One in January, and one in March. Plus, I have to finish a third and work on final edits on a novella. Who has time to rest?

Here’s what came to my mind. Man’s rest isn’t at all like our rest in God. I could nap for two hours every day and still not be rested.

But, if I go to God’s Word and allow Him to speak to my heart and my spirit, I will find His peace, and His rest. Every. Single. Time.

So, rest is my word this year. I plan to sit in my chair and read God’s Word and let it wash over me. No doubt, I will find the rest I need within my Bible.

FIND REST IN GOD’S WORD

Whether you choose a word or not, do spend time in God’s Word and let His promises wash over you. If you’re weary or just flat-out tired or worn out after the holidays, come and find His peace and His rest for your souls.

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls (Matthew 11:28-29 ESV).

What is your word for the year if you’ve chosen one. Share with us the thoughts behind it.

Happy New Year!!

Blessings, y’all!

Somewhere in this computer is a file of me singing this many years ago. I have no clue how to put it into this post, but this young lady has a gorgeous voice. I loved singing this back when my voice could do this. I look forward to the heavenly choir, for sure! Rest in Him, y’all!!

Thank you for your thoughts, Debbie. Rest in God is the only thing that really regenerates. 🙂

Awe Debbie, thank you so much for promoting my blog. I am humbled and grateful. I like your word for the year. Especially as it pertains to resting in God. That’s something we all need to do for sure.
