3 Truths from Ezekiel: Then They Will Know that I AM the LORD

When I think about Ezekiel, my mind automatically goes to the valley of the dry bones. But Ezekiel has so much more than that for us. Ezekiel was one of the major prophets. He was taken captive to Babylon in the second exile. He had visions and shared them with the people of Israel who were in captivity. His purpose was to remind the Israelites that the idols weren’t God, but that God Himself was their LORD.
A vision is a miraculous revelation of God’s truth. These visions were to remind the people of God’s presence and His holiness, but to also warn them of the consequences of being non-repentant.
My Bible study told me that this phrase, Then they will know that I AM the LORD is repeated 65 times in this one book. Your translation will determine how many times it appears. This repeated phrase explains why God acts in judgment, mercy, restoration and rescue: so people will know who He is.
TRUTH 1
God Sometimes Allows Consequences to Bring Us Back to the Truth
Because the people of Israel had turned away from God time after time, He allowed them to experience the consequences of their rebellion. They were taken into captivity in Babylon. Read Ezekiel 6:3-7. They had taken up the pagan practices of those around them, forgetting the covenant they’d made with God.
While all around them fell into famine and ruin, they called upon the idols to save them. Those idols had no power. Their false gods couldn’t save them. Now read verse 8. Yet I will leave some of you alive. A remnant. Always a remnant. This remnant would know that I Am the LORD.
(Just a personal reminder here: I sing all my books with John 8:32, You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.)
TRUTH 2
God Reveals Himself Through Judgment, but also Through Mercy and Restoration
Read Ezekiel 36:22-38. Here God promises to gather His scattered people, cleanse them, and give them a new heart and a new spirit. He restores them. Just as God restored Israel all those years ago, He can do that for you and for me. He wants us to turn from our sin, to repent, to call upon His name. He wants to create within us a new heart. But we must be truly repentant and realize that without Him, we can do nothing. We must know that He is he LORD.
2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV says, Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. As our loving Father, this is God’s deepest desire for us. He ultimately points us to Christ.

One Day, Everyone Will Know that HE is LORD
This repeated phrase, And then they will Know that I am the LORD, isn’t just for Israel. Repeatedly in Ezekiel God says that the nations will know that HE is LORD. God’s sovereignty extends far beyond the borders of Israel. It encompasses the entire world and every person in it. Ezekiel 38: 23 ESV says, So I will show my greatness and my holiness and make myself known in the eyes of many nations. Then they will know that I am the LORD.
Here are supporting Scriptures to back up what was prophesied so long ago.
Philippians 2:9-11 ESV, Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed upon him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bos, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Romans 14:11 ESV, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.”
Revelation 1:7 ESV, Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.
The events of today are bringing us closer toward the day when there will be no question about who reigns. Won’t you choose Jesus as your Lord and Savior today? He is the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords. THEN, they will know that I AM the LORD.
Blessings, y’all.
I don’t know this young man, but what a beautiful voice. It goes perfectly with this post. I pray it blesses you.
