About My Writing – Some Random Thoughts
I’ve been writing this blog since 2014. That’s a long, long time. Recently, my hosting site had a glitch, and I lost over 200 subscribers. That’s a lot of readers. Laws say I can’t send out emails to them explaining what happened and asking them if they’d like to continue to have my posts land in their mailboxes. At the least, it’s considered in poor taste to do so. And I’m a Southern gal. ‘Nough said.
Seems kind of weird doesn’t it? I did nothing, yet I’m the one being punished for something totally out of my hands. I have to wonder who makes those rules or laws. One thing is certain, they aren’t a writer, or I could reach out to my readers and say, “Hey, I’m sorry. I’d love to have you back. Remember, you may unsubscribe anytime you like.”
Heavy sigh inserted here.
TRUSTING GOD
Sometimes, I wonder why writers even bother with writing blogs when things like this could happen at any given point in time. It is so frustrating. One thing I didn’t ask is, Where is God in the midst of this mess? That is because God is in control of my writing career. He’s the one Who laid it on my heart to try this in the first place. I never really considered writing as a calling, though I suppose it was or this blog wouldn’t exist. I wouldn’t have ever gone to a writers’ conference had it not been for Divine intervention. In all this time, God alone determines who reads my blog posts, my books, or anything else I write. I trust Him to take my words where He knows they need to go.
I do my best to offer good content, and I know I won’t always hit all the buttons for some of you, but for others, you get the things I have to say. Sometimes, my posts are aimed at fellow writers, and other times they are for a general audience. I hope there will be a lesson to be learned in either case. As a Christian author, my blog posts are clean and contain no off-color words or remarks. My books are clean, also. A little romance, but closed-door. I was first published traditionally, but now I publish my own books under my label, Bee Meadow Books ( translated, Debra DuPree Books).

There have been times in my blog posts that I will share our pastor’s thoughts as he gives a series of sermons on one character or one book of the Bible. Of course, I throw in my two cents. Other times, I share things I’ve experienced or learned just in my daily life. Like sharing with you our trip to Gorges State Park in Sapphire, North Carolina (Gorges State Park: Home | NC State Parks) where I found a sign talking about Fall leaves. Did you know those colors are in the leaves all the while? They only appear when the days become shorter and exposure to sunlight is limited.
The presence of chlorophyll caused by the sun hides the Fall colors beneath the green. But what glorious colors when that season comes. The leaves around us were late changing this year, but they were gorgeous when they finally did show their hidden colors. I hope you got to enjoy the Fall leaves in your area. Ours are about gone after a couple of days of frigid temps and strong winds.
SOME OF MY FAVORITE TOPICS
At other times, I may share about a friend’s book that is about to launch or has just launched. Sometimes I talk about music or our kids . . . four sons, one DIL, and two perfect granddaughters. I’ve done posts about hurricanes including, Irma and Helene. Two nasty ladies! Oh, and I’ve included a few posts about genealogy. One of my favorite things! One of my give-aways is a booklet about essential oils with great recipes, another of my favorite things! You get this and a couple of short stories about Charlotte, when you sign up for my blog and newsletter.
Several years ago, my husband and I began reading our Bibles together, using the chronological plan by Tara-Leigh Cobble, The Bible Recap. Here is a link: https://www.thebiblerecap.com/ This has blessed us so much. 2026 will be our 6th year to do this plan, other than one year when we decided to spend the entire year in the New Testament. Whatever you choose, just be sure to dig into His Word daily. It has made a tremendous difference in our lives, and it can change your Eternity!
Blessings, y’all!
I love this! Love Sandi, and singing her arrangements of songs. I’ve sung this old hymn so many times, I couldn’t possibly count them all. Thankful for the chance to do this for my LORD!
