A Brother Remembered
We’ve been in Alabama for a few days. We don’t mind returning to our home state, but the reason for our being here has been heartbreaking. Our dear brother, Randy Wolfe, husband of my Hubby’s elder sister Kay went home to Jesus this past Sunday after an extremely brief illness. To say this was a shock to everyone would be an understatement of the highest order.
Randy and Kay were married for 57 years. They have twin boys and those boys blessed them with 10 grandchildren. And counting the wives of two of those grands, it makes an even dozen. The remaining grands will one day add to that number. So many blessings!
Randy was a good man, a godly man. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of Captain. He proudly served for eight and a half years and was awarded several medals during his years of service.
FAMILY MAN AND MOVING EXPERIENCE
He was a devoted and loving husband to Kay, an example of what a godly man should be to his two sons and his grandchildren, and a true brother to my husband and me.
A Brother Remembered @DDuPreeWilliams #Brother #AllTheWayHome #TreasuredMemories Share on XDuring the past decade, Hubby and I were blessed to spend a lot of time with Randy and Kay. They often visited us in our home in western North Carolina. Bless them, they came to help twice when we moved from one home to another.
When they came to stay for a while, we visited local apple orchards where we giggled over funny photo ops. Road trips to take photographs of scenes off the Blue Ridge Parkway, stopping to eat at the Pisgah Inn, or to walk through the local Arboretum were highlights of our times together. Randy’s photography skills were to be envied. All those photographs will forever be a beautiful memory of his God-given gift.
A WEDDING AND A PHONE CALL
In August we traveled to Alabama to attend the wedding of one of the first two of Kay’s and Randy’s grandchildren to get married. It was a beautiful wedding. We enjoyed being a part of this very special day. We’re so thankful to have lovely photographs as treasured memories.
About two weeks ago I got a phone call from Randy. Now, it wasn’t his habit to phone me, so I was a bit surprised. Bless him, he was reading book two in my Charlotte Grave Mystery series, Grave Decisions. He had a question as he read chapter two. He couldn’t believe what he was reading and wanted me to clarify the storyline for him. Knowing if I answered it, it would ruin the story, I told him to press on and all would be revealed. We didn’t get to talk about what he thought, but Kay told me she was pretty sure he had finished reading it.
Just knowing he cared enough about me and my writing to read my work warms my heart. I hope he enjoyed my story.
FINAL THOUGHTS
If I know nothing else about our brother, I know he was a good man. He loved his family with his whole being, but most of all, he loved his Savior. Randy lived his life accordingly. To say he will be sorely missed by Hubby and me is a huge understatement. Thank you, Father, for the gift of this man in our lives. He made a difference in this world to so, so many. We’re blessed to be counted among them.
See you soon, brother. We love you.
Blessings, y’all!
As you are reading this, we will gather this afternoon to celebrate Randy’s life. Would you please offer prayers for our dear sister, Kay, and their family? We know Randy is with His Savior, but our hearts surely do miss his presence here on this earth.
No words needed. Blessings!
