Read The Gospel of Luke During Advent

My husband and I have read through our Bibles chronologically for the past almost five years. During that time, we’ve seen several posts from many of you talking about reading Luke during Advent.

Have you ever done this?

If you begin on December 1, you will finish the entire Gospel of Luke by Christmas Day as it has twenty-four chapters. Read one chapter each day. You will see the life of Christ unfold before your eyes and will have a better understanding of who He truly is and the sacrifice He made for all mankind.

Even if you are a few days behind, today is only day five, so you can easily catch up. Why not jump in and join us in this reading of God’s Word?

FACTS ABOUT LUKE

He wasn’t one of the original twelve Apostles.

He was a physician and, many say, a Gentile. Others say he was a Christian Jew due to his knowledge of the Old Testament.

He was a companion of Paul and accompanied him on several of his missionary journeys.

In addition to the Gospel of Luke, he also wrote the Acts of the Apostles.

FURTHER INFO ABOUT LUKE

Now, there is much more about Luke that I did not know. I don’t know if you can see this, but if you go to this link, then go to her post on December 1, you will learn more about the life of Luke than you’ve likely ever known.    https://www.facebook.com/lauren.monicocrews

I enjoyed reading her post so much. She included things I would have never known about Luke. Thank you, Lauren.

Reading Luke is a wonderful way to prepare our hearts and minds for celebrating the birth of Christ. While you’re reading it, may I suggest you find a wonderful recording of Hadel’s Messiah, beautiful music which tells the entire Christmas story. I’m so thankful for the privilege of having sung this many, many times.

Blessings, y’all!

This is just one of the many beautiful choruses within the Christmas portion of Handel’s Messiah. I pray it blesses you.
